Not your typical workout

Three things happen in every class.

The name says it. barre3 weaves three proven elements into one 45-minute flow, so you build real strength, get your heart rate up, and quiet the mental noise you walked in with.

01

Strength

Small, precise movements at the barre paired with hand weights build lean, functional strength, the kind that carries into everyday life.

02

Cardio

Rhythmic sequences keep you moving and your heart rate climbing, without pounding joints or leaving you wrecked for tomorrow.

03

Mindfulness

Intentional pacing and breathwork settle your nervous system and pull you into the present, so you leave grounded and clear, not depleted.

Why members stay

Good for your body, better for your brain.

We're not saying barre3 is therapy, but you'll walk in stressed and walk out feeling like a different human. The combination of movement, breathwork, and community is where the real shift happens.

Modifications for every body

Newer, stronger, pregnant, coming back from injury, your instructor offers real options so the class fits you, not the other way around.

A steadier, sharper mind

Intentional movement is one of the most powerful tools for mental clarity and emotional resilience. You're not just building a stronger body, you're building a calmer, sharper mind.

You're not doing this alone

Community is medicine. Here you'll find a room full of people showing up for themselves and each other, and instructors who learn your name. Come move, breathe, and belong.

Science-backed by design

Every class is intentionally built to reconnect you with your breath, your strength, and the present moment, mindfulness woven in on purpose, not as an afterthought.

Your time to breathe

In a city that never really slows down, this is the time that's yours. Steps from the Metro with easy parking, before work or as an evening reset.

A hard reset, made fun

Stressful week? Anxious brain? Big feelings you can't quite name? Forty-five minutes of strength, cardio, and mindful movement has a way of clearing it all out.

Meet the owner

Amy McNamara

Owner · barre3 Arlington

Amy took her first barre3 class in 2013 and was immediately drawn to the workout's focus on core strength and its emphasis on modifications. What began as a fitness routine quickly evolved into her "happy place", a space where movement, mindfulness, and community intersect.

In 2015, Amy became an instructor, eventually serving as a studio manager and instructor mentor. Fulfilling a long-held dream, she is now the owner of barre3 Arlington. She has cultivated a welcoming environment where clients feel supported in building both physical and mental strength, a community that values consistency, care, and the importance of showing up exactly as you are.

Outside the studio, Amy enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and taking long walks with her labradoodle, Gumbo.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Here's what new clients ask most before their first class.

Is the first class really free?
Yes, your very first barre3 class at our Arlington studio is completely free, with no membership and no card required to claim it. It's the easiest way to feel the workout for yourself.
I'm not in shape / I've never done barre. Is that okay?
More than okay, it's who we're built for. Every movement has modifications, and your instructor will guide you through your first class personally. You set the pace; we meet you there.
Life's been stressful lately. Is barre3 actually going to help?
A lot of our members come for exactly that. We're not a replacement for professional care, but every class is intentionally built around movement, breathwork, and community to help settle your nervous system and clear your head. Most people walk in wound up and walk out feeling more like themselves.
What should I bring and wear?
Just yourself and something comfortable to move in. We provide the weights, props, and everything else. Grippy socks are recommended (we have them if you need a pair) and bring water.
How long is a class?
Most classes run about 45 minutes; a few run 60. Either way it's one efficient session that works your whole body and quiets your mind, and it fits before work, over lunch, or on your way home.
Where exactly are you, and is there parking?
We're in Arlington, VA, a short walk from the Metro with convenient parking nearby. You'll get the exact address and directions in your booking confirmation.
What happens after my free class?
No pressure at all. If you love it, we'll walk you through new-client packages and membership options that fit your routine. If it's not for you, you've lost nothing but a class well spent.
